Topshop Summer Make-Up

It’s less than a month till our graduation and once I finally found my graduation dress at Topshop, I couldn’t help but add a few makeup pieces in my shopping basket.  It would be rude not to! I decided to try not to go too crazy and only pick up two items.  The latest addition to their lipstick range, the Lip Bullets and a lovely complimentary coral nail polish.

Weleda Skincare Minis

If you’ve been wondering where Lisa has been, she’s currently on holiday in Vegas, so thank you for putting up with all my posts for the time being!  Sadly I won’t be jetting off to a lovely hot country this summer but for those of you who are, I’ve got you covered.  When you’re travelling the last thing you want to do is carry around full sized products, especially at the risk of a skincare explosion over your favourite holiday dress.  The natural and organic skincare brand Weleda now offers a full range of miniature essentials sold individually so you can mix and match to create the perfect combination.  We’ve tried out quite a few Weleda* products so we’ll recommend more throughout the post, but here are 5 of their best selling minis.

Umberto Giannini Frizzi Range

I’ve been a fan of Umberto Giannini products long before my beauty obsession began.  I remember recieving a set of the Sleek & Chic range for christmas and all the other haircare I had were cast aside.  My favourite out of the range was the Sleek & Chic Blow Dry Cream but on recent trips to Boots it was nowhere to be seen.  In a moment of panic that my favourite styling product had been discontinued, I contacted Umberto Giannini and it turns out the range has been reformulated and repackaged into the Frizzi* range, hurray!  The lovely people at Umberto Giannini offered to send over the product and imagine my surprise when the full range arrived at my door!  For the past few weeks I’ve been testing out each of the products in conjunction with the shampoo and conditioner to help you decide which styling product from the range will suit you best.

Nails Inc. Mali-Woo-Woo

Recently Malibu Rum has teamed up with a bunch of different fashion and beauty brands such as Toni&Guy, ASOS and Nails Inc for their Malibutique event over the next few weeks across England.  To celebrate the event, they’ve teamed up with Nails Inc and introduced a special shade for the occasion, Mali-Woo-Woo.  The limited edition Mali-Woo-Woo shade is based upon the signature Malibu cocktail of the same name in a gorgeous bright pink shade to start off the summer, what better way to start than a delicious, fruity cocktail!

Miscellaneous Beauty Tools

Over the years I’ve came across many weird and wonderful make-up tools.  Sometimes you can find amazing hidden gems and others like blackhead removers in the hands of an overenthusiastic acne-prone teen (myself) might do more harm than good.  I’ve compiled this post with 5 products you’d probably never take a second look at, but have amazing results.  As an added bonus, they’re all under £10!

The Body Shop Coconut Range

At the end of last month, some of you know that we took a little trip to The Body Shop and ever since we’ve been discovering some new finds and some old favourites.  If theres one thing I always go back to, it’s the Coconut Range.  Now that we can officially call it summer here in Scotland (providing I haven’t just jinxed it, shall I swap my sunblock for an umbrella now?) my skin needs a little bit more attention and moisture and these two products are here to work their magic.

Bourjois Cream Blush

When it comes to cream blushers, I usually stay away.  I’d always found them a bit of a mystery as I’m used to applying blusher over powder so I was never really sure what the correct method was to using them.  I’d tried the dap and blend with finger method but it always looked a bit messy and I’d end up ruining my foundation in the process.  Since my new Real Techniques Stippling brush arrived, I’ve figured out a method I love and have been cream blusher mad ever since.  My latest cream blusher obsession is the new Cream Blushers* by Bourjois.

Kerastase Giveaway With Bellezo.com

No matter what your hair type, colour, length or style is, we bet you’re searching for that wonder product to sort out your hair nightmare.  We had both been looking for something to really add a bit of life and shine back into our dull locks and we found it in the form of these two lovely products. The Chroma Riche range from Kerastase delivers a blast of shine and protection to coloured or dull hair.  The range is primarily for those with coloured hair, but also works wonders for hair that’s looking a little more lackluster than luxurious.

Believe us when we say we put this to the ultimate test.  As Sami had recently highlighted her hair, the Bain Chroma Riche Shampoo* really helped her maintain a rich healthy vibrancy to the colour without weighing the hair down.  Whereas Lisa (who has never dyed her hair) is stuck somewhere in between shades so feels her hair can look quite dull.  The Chroma Riche Treatment Masque* really helped add shine and life back into her hair.  Rambling aside, we were both thrilled with the results we achieved when using these products.  Even more exciting one of our lucky readers is in with the chance of winning a Shampoo, Conditioner and Treatment from the Kerastase range courtesy of Bellezo.com, one of the UK’s top quality suppliers of hair and beauty products from a wide range of haircare brands!

Sound good? Heres how to enter the giveaway!

Nivea In-Shower Body Moisturiser

Nivea In-Shower Body Moisturiser - Boots £3.56, 250ml

One of the most annoying things in beauty is waiting for your body moisturiser to dry.  When I’m getting ready in the morning I want to stay in bed for as long as possible, get ready and out the door so I don’t really have a lot of time to wait about.  Nivea have recently came out with an In-Shower Body Moisturiser* which solves the problem.  I think we may have a new cult favourite on our hands.

Pinterest - Pin It Forward UK

Recently we’ve both been redecorating our bedrooms and looking for inspiration online.  We both have quite similar tastes in colour but while Lisa has a lot more old fashioned decorative pieces, Sami’s taste is slightly more modern.  It probably shows in our blog photographs, we’ve even been told people can tell exactly who’s writing the post before seeing the name!  While collecting these images it’s often a bit difficult to remember where it came from or even remembering to bookmark the page, so thats where Pinterest comes in.

Pinterest is a website which has just launched in the UK and if you haven’t heard of it, it basically enables you to “Pin” images from around the web and compile them into boards.  Basically it’s a little bit like scrapbooking, with less mess!

Skincare Redness Solutions

Sometimes I underestimate how sensitive my skin is.  Having used a lot of oily skin products in the past, it really messed up my skin and I have to be a lot more careful on what I use.  Recently I was trying out a new face scrub, I was loving the results until the next day I woke up to very sensitive, blemishy, bright red patches on my skin, eek!  Perhaps I should pay more attention to the labels, especially when it says NOT FOR SENSITIVE SKIN in big bold letters right infront of me but I’m now learning my lesson.  Not to worry, having dealt with skin redness for quite a while I have a few products on hand to solve the problem.  Here are my skincare redness solutions.

Holiday Prep #1

he-shi Exfoliating Body Wash*, The Sanctuary Body Brush, Dove Firming Moisturising Lotion & Urban Outfitters Bikini Top

Believe it or not, it is actually summertime -shock horror! And for me, summer usually means a few things; its light when I leave work, nights out and dress codes become a lot more relaxed, festivals and most importantly a little summer holiday! My ‘little’ summer holiday this year is actually rather exciting in a weeks time I’m jetting off to…LAS VEGAS!

The Body Shop Event

Last week we were kindly invited along to an intimate blogger event with The Body Shop in Silverburn Shopping Centre to find out more about their products.  When you’re in your early teens it seems like the thing to do to visit the Body Shop for tea tree oil when the problematic skin starts.  Now that we’re a little older we haven’t been too familiar with the products as we used to be but with the event was a chance to try out new products as  well as rediscovering some old favourites.  Here’s what happened.

JACAVA London Nail Polish

Beauty wise, there’s nothing I love more than freshly painted nails.  It completes your look and allows me to experiment with a wide variety of colours I’d be too shy to wear on my face.  For some reason, I’ve found that pink shades can be problematic in their application so it’s hard to find the right one to do the job well.  I’ve been testing out the JACAVA London polish in Blackberry Fool and here’s how I’ve got on.

Curly Sue

Some call it a blessing, some call it a burden, whichever camp your in one things for sure having thick curly hair can be a real pain to keep in check. Especially during the warmer months as humidity leaves us curly sue’s more frizzy than fabulous. With this in mind I thought I’d share my current picks for keeping my curls in check.

Chantecaille Lip Chic Lipstick

I’ve always been a bit scared to wear darker lipstick shades.  Perhaps it’s due to my pale complexion or the fact that I don’t want to appear as if I’ve stepped out of the 90s grunge scene.  It wasn’t until my recent foray into sheer lipsticks that the pale pinks of MAC Angel and Topshops Innocent have been cast aside for a slightly darker, sheerer alternative.  Chantecaille has always been a brand on my wishlist to try but  with a wide variety of products to choose from it can be a little overwhelming at first.  With any high end purchase, in my opinion the lipsticks are always a great place to start.

TONI&GUY Touch Control Hairdryer

They say that without using good quality make up brushes, your products won’t perform well and it’s safe to say the same applies with hairdryers.  You could spend ages applying your favourite shampoo and conditioner and all the argan oils in the world in the hope for a lovely sleek look but ultimately your hairdryer is in charge.  Without the right heat and speed settings suited to your hair, all that hard work might leave you with a frizzy mess.  We’ve been trying out the TONI&GUY Touch Control Hairdryer* for over 2 months and here’s how we’ve got on.

Impulse Designer-Inspired Fragrances

Back in my early high school days, Impulse sprays were all the rage.  You wouldn’t find a girl who didn’t have them and trips to Boots meant picking up the latest Impulse scent.  It’s been quite a while since I’ve last tried them, but they’ve always had a great selection of scents to choose from.  I remember stocking up on the Goddess scent when it came out but sadly when P.E classes were no longer compulsory, my Impulse collection reduced and I moved onto perfumes.  Now Impulse are back in action, all grown up, featuring 11 fragrances developed by the world-renowned fragrance experts of Dior and Calvin Klein.  Here’s what they have to offer.
